Pinterest Wednesday – Where I Introduce Myself!

I am a Pinterest Addict and have been for a little over one year.  I was introduced to this delightful wonderland of eye candy by a friend via Facebook.  As with anything new,  it took a few days to acquaint myself with the ins and outs, but once I got the hang of it -… Continue reading Pinterest Wednesday – Where I Introduce Myself!

I’ve been in beachy mood with all this winter weather in New England. Now with the thought of more snow to come on Sunday, I wanted to make something to remind me of summer. I came across this post from The Green Dragonfly and this “Little Fishy Bunting” will fit the bill. I will make little fishy’s as the snow is falling – stay tuned for pictures to follow.

The Green Dragonfly

Fishy Bunting Cute fishy bunting, just the type of bunting a little boy who loves fishing would like… and the best part is its super easy to make!

Select your yarn and a corresponding hook, (I used a mix of yarn scraps which were all about 8ply and a 3.5mm hook). Lets begin…

1. Make a magic circle, chain 2 and Double Crochet (DC) 9 times into the circle.  Pull tight and secure with a slip stitch (10DC)

Fishy Bunting2. Slip stitch into the next stitch (I do this because its more secure to start there), Chain 2 and 4DC into the same stitch, 1DC into each of the next 4 stitches. 5DC into the next stitch, 1DC into each of the next 4 stitches, join round with a slip stitch (body made).

Fishy Bunting3. Make the tail; SS into the next stitch and chain 5. Single crochet in the second chain from the…

Granny squares are instant gratification - quicker than a dishcloth, speedier than a headband and it is so enjoyable to combine colors.… Continue reading Granny Squares, Snow and Big Bang Theory

Be a Princess

I am still in Bow Mode!  My daughter Nikki had the idea to embellish the headbands with a little bit of Disney Inspiration.  This resulted in Belle, Ariel, Tinker Bell and Snow White type headbands.  The lower right one was going to be Alice, but I didn't like the color, so just a Plain Jane,… Continue reading Be a Princess

Easier than I thought!  These work up really quick and can be done in one night!                    … Continue reading Knitted Bow Headband

The Joy Of Handmade Dish Cloths

Whether they are crocheted or knitted, handmade dish cloths are a joy to have in the house, apartment, dorm or work. People I know prefer these to the thin store bought type. On the practical side, they are absorbent and quite useful for sopping up spills. The same thing that's true of sponges is true… Continue reading The Joy Of Handmade Dish Cloths

Diagonal Crochet Stitch - I love the texture this pattern creates. I fell in love with this pattern immediately. When I started looking around for HOW to crochet this, I found a lot of written instructional patterns on the internet - however, the twists and turns you need to do in the pattern did not make sense in… Continue reading Diagonal Crochet Stitch
